CCA Calendar Updates 2020

RFHavens 0 150

We have completed a preliminary scrub of the 2020 CCA Calendar.  There are many events that were cancelled due to the COVID-19 Pendemic.  There are many events that will still take place this year, though many of them will be conducted under additional requirements or limtations at the time of the event.  The events that we know of that have changed their date(s), have been updated in the CCA calendar.  There are other promoters that are working very hard to reschedule their events.  As we get more information from each promoter and USA Cycling, we will update the clendar as fast as possible.

If you are a promoter and do not see your event listed here, please contact either Judy or Robert with the details of the event so we can get it added.  Note that we only publish USA Cycling Sactioned events.

To better promote your event, you can provide t Robert the following information:

  • Name of event (Should match what is or will be the event listing on USA Cycling website)
  • Date(s) and time(s)
  • Who or what categories is the event open too
  • Flyer link
  • Registration Link
  • Contact email address
  • Facebook Link
  • Website Link
  • Complete address of the event location
  • Image, graphic or logo you would like attached to the event listing
  • Any additional narative text you would like for the "Article" listing (Please have in selctable text) so we can copy and paste it easier)

Thank you for your understanding and support.

Revised Member Upgrade Policies

RFHavens 0 458

Dear LAs,

As you have been made aware, USA Cycling has been revising the upgrade system for member categories. We are taking these steps for two main reasons:

1. Our existing policy is confusing, cumbersome, and resulted in a poor experience for our members.

2. The new membership product to be released the first week of February has features we hope will encourage riders to try out racing at a lower price points in a category that makes more sense for them.

2019 Club of the Year

RFHavens 0 5498

BE THE BEST OF 2019

Each year, USA Cycling awards three "Overall Club of the Year" designations and ten special awards. USA Cycling's "Club of the Year" awards are designed to recognize USA Cycling clubs that have made exceptional efforts to develop programs and promote all aspects of competitive cycling.

The selection committee will choose one winner for each division (I, II and III) and each special award (Junior, Interscholastic, Masters, Women, Best New Club, Track, Mountain Bike, Collegiate Varsity, Collegiate Club and Cyclo-cross). Clubs may only apply for one award. It is recommended that clubs start thinking about this at the beginning of the year and keep the awards in mind as they plan their programs and racing season.

SAFESPORT Resources for LA & Clubs

RFHavens 0 565

USA Cycling is committed to creating a safe and positive environment for its participants’ physical, emotional, and social development and to ensuring it promotes an environment free from misconduct and abuse. To achieve this, USA Cycling’s SafeSport Program went into effect in January 2014. Today, the Program consists of three core components: (1) Education, (2) Policies (including Criminal Background Checks), and (3) Response and Resolution.  In 2017, the U.S. Center for SafeSport (“The Center”) was launched and it has exclusive jurisdiction over sexual misconduct matters and may exercise discretionary jurisdiction over other misconduct.  The Center also promulgates rules and policies around training requirements and misconduct.  USA Cycling works closely with The Center to educate our membership, create policies that protect our members from misconduct and abuse and respond to and resolve allegations of misconduct when they arise.

Club Tool Kit

RFHavens 0 592

What’s so great about being part of a cycling club? Community.  Advocacy.  Social life. Competition. Skills. Fun. Giving back to your tribe.  There are many reasons to join an existing cycling club - or start your own.  Our cycling club listing can help you find the Club that is right for you.

For years, not only were clubs host to countless weeknight and weekend organized rides but they were THE place for beginners to learn basic riding (and racing) skills from more experienced riders  - skills that had been passed down to them by the generations of riders who came before. Clubs have been the keepers of that historical knowledge - how to ride safely in a group, how to race, how put on a race and much more.  They’ve also been key organizers in their communities - voices for safer streets, bike lanes and cyclists’ rights.

Many clubs have it in their mission statements to be welcoming to ALL riders.  Others have a strict racing focus.  Regardless of the focus, broadly speaking all clubs are interested in the social aspects of the sport and making riding safer and more fun for everybody. What follows is a tool kit for clubs that features information for teaching skills for riding, skills for racing and much more that will make everybody safer, more skilled and promote having fun on the bike.

Updates and Info

If you have any suggestions, please let Robert know. Try to be resonably specific if you can as it helps in the long run. Remember to update your links for the CCA Offcial website to carolinascycling.org. We have setup web forwarding from our old site address.

We are constantly looking to make improvements to this website, from how we manage information dislay to maintenance. Now that the CCA Annual meeting is complete and the base calendar set, we are building the events calendar with many new features. We have all events from that list added. Some of the event info is basic until either the promoter provides it to me (Robert) or I pull it from the USA Cycling website once you start the permit process there. We do ask that you information always include the name and date(s) of your event. For the maps integration, we ask that you include an accurate address to the staging site or parking area for your event(s). Also new, is the ability for us to add some details to your event listing. This should be in plain text format and be reasonable length (i.e. not all the info from your flyer) but maybe some good info that is not on your flyer.
