CCA Calendar Updates 2020

RFHavens 0 151

We have completed a preliminary scrub of the 2020 CCA Calendar.  There are many events that were cancelled due to the COVID-19 Pendemic.  There are many events that will still take place this year, though many of them will be conducted under additional requirements or limtations at the time of the event.  The events that we know of that have changed their date(s), have been updated in the CCA calendar.  There are other promoters that are working very hard to reschedule their events.  As we get more information from each promoter and USA Cycling, we will update the clendar as fast as possible.

If you are a promoter and do not see your event listed here, please contact either Judy or Robert with the details of the event so we can get it added.  Note that we only publish USA Cycling Sactioned events.

To better promote your event, you can provide t Robert the following information:

  • Name of event (Should match what is or will be the event listing on USA Cycling website)
  • Date(s) and time(s)
  • Who or what categories is the event open too
  • Flyer link
  • Registration Link
  • Contact email address
  • Facebook Link
  • Website Link
  • Complete address of the event location
  • Image, graphic or logo you would like attached to the event listing
  • Any additional narative text you would like for the "Article" listing (Please have in selctable text) so we can copy and paste it easier)

Thank you for your understanding and support.

CYCLING EVENTS IN THE COVID-19 ERA:

GUIDELINES FOR THE RETURN TO CYCLING EVENTS

RFHavens 0 174

With the continued impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, USA Cycling has been working to develop tools to help event organizers plan for the future of rides and races. On Monday, May 18 at 2:00 pm MDT, we are excited to serve the broader cycling community by hosting a free webinar for those in event organization as well as communities hosting cycling events. If you are unable to attend the live webinar a recording will be made available here: Cycling Events in the COVID-19 Era Webinar Recording  (YouTube Link).

We will share insights from our nation-wide rider survey regarding, among other things, what they hope to see from events moving forward. We will introduce and explain our event risk assessment tool and return to cycling events guidelines derived from those created by the CDC, WHO and, United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC). We will conclude the event with a live panel with medical experts Dr. Roshon (USAC Chief Medical Officer) and Dr. Finnoff (USOPC Chief Medical Officer), providing you with an opportunity to ask your questions regarding how to best utilize the tools and make decisions around your event. Collectively, the tools and panel discussion will help event organizers assess the feasibility of hosting their events, and assist in identifying risk factors and mitigation solutions for cycling events.

USA Cycling’s current ban on event permits is set to expire on May 31, 2020, and will be replaced with a set of guidelines that will consider local and regional health policies and regulations, the type of activity, and risk to the community and participants. With cycling events now often subject to requirements for mass gatherings and social distancing as set by local health authorities, it is critical that event organizers consider how to make their events safe in the time of COVID-19.

We look forward to having you join us!

USA Cycling Coronavirus Update 9 April 2020

RFHavens 0 449

With the continuing national emergency, USA Cycling will extend its suspension of all issued permits for sanctioned events - including USA Cycling races, rides, camps, and clinics- through May 31, 2020.

USA Cycling is currently working with our stakeholders, event organizers, and medical experts to develop guidelines and best practices to assist in keeping participants, event staff, volunteers, and the communities where we hold our events as safe as possible once riding and racing resumes.

We continue to call on all event directors, clubs, coaches, athletes, and members to follow the guidelines and regulations issued by national, state, and local authorities on social distancing and prohibited activities. This includes forgoing gatherings such as groups rides and any other group or team activities where people assemb

Updates and Info

If you have any suggestions, please let Robert know. Try to be resonably specific if you can as it helps in the long run. Remember to update your links for the CCA Offcial website to carolinascycling.org. We have setup web forwarding from our old site address.

We are constantly looking to make improvements to this website, from how we manage information dislay to maintenance. Now that the CCA Annual meeting is complete and the base calendar set, we are building the events calendar with many new features. We have all events from that list added. Some of the event info is basic until either the promoter provides it to me (Robert) or I pull it from the USA Cycling website once you start the permit process there. We do ask that you information always include the name and date(s) of your event. For the maps integration, we ask that you include an accurate address to the staging site or parking area for your event(s). Also new, is the ability for us to add some details to your event listing. This should be in plain text format and be reasonable length (i.e. not all the info from your flyer) but maybe some good info that is not on your flyer.
