Reminders for 2015 race directors

From the USA Cycling Update:
With September halfway over and next year’s permitting time just around the corner, it’s time for a reminder about race director certification so you can prepare in time for permitting your 2015 events.

Some things you need to be aware of:

1) There are now two race director licenses

A stand-alone race director license for those wishing to permit without a registered club
-- When you purchase a race director license, you receive one free race director webinar
-- If you purchase a two year race director license, you receive two free race director webinars.

A complimentary club race director license for those permitting with their club
-- Given when the club contact passes a race director certification
-- Allows club race directors to permit events only for their registered club

2) Level C certification

Minimal requirement for any licensed race director to permit any type of event

Minimal requirement for any licensed club race director to permit a competitive event under a registered club

From August 1 to December 31 of 2014 anyone who completes the Level C certification will have their certification extended until December 31 of 2016 to help ease this change in policy

To maintain Level C certification only five (5) CEUs will be required - two (2) of which are required trainings, two (2) which must be USA Cycling produced education, and one (1) which can be any education related to event management

3) Level B certification

This is no longer an in-person class certification, it is a set 10 webinar curriculum

We have released two webinars already, Volunteer Management and RaceClean

If you complete this certification you will receive a financial benefit of an additional $0.10/transaction online registration rebate as part of the new volume-based year-end rebate available to race directors.

If you wish to complete the Level C certification you can find the manual and exam in your My USA Cycling account, under your account.

The next Level B webinar is Wednesday, September 24 at 4 p.m. MT and the topic is Radios for Dummies presented by Chuck Hodge.

If you wish to read the full details please see below release. If you have any questions please feel free to email me.

Sincerely,

Tara McCarthy

Updates and Info

If you have any suggestions, please let Robert know. Try to be resonably specific if you can as it helps in the long run. Remember to update your links for the CCA Offcial website to carolinascycling.org. We have setup web forwarding from our old site address.

With the last update/rebuild of this site in early April, we are happy to report that the benefit of increased speed and response time for the pages to load is dramatically increased. Additional security measures were also put into place as we look ahead to future updates.

We are constantly looking to make improvements to this website, from how we manage information dislay to maintenance. Now that the CCA Annual meeting is complete and the base calendar set, we are building the events calendar with many new features. We have all events from that list added. Some of the event info is basic until either the promoter provides it to me (Robert) or I pull it from the USA Cycling website once you start the permit process there. We do ask that you information always include the name and date(s) of your event. For the maps integration, we ask that you include an accurate address to the staging site or parking area for your event(s). Also new, is the ability for us to add some details to your event listing. This should be in plain text format and be reasonable length (i.e. not all the info from your flyer) but maybe some good info that is not on your flyer.
